Pandemic Flu - Washington Post.

Sunday, June 28, 2009

WITH CASES numbering more than 59,000 across 110 countries, Margaret Chan of the World Health Organization has declared a swine flu pandemic. "The world is moving into the early days of its first influenza pandemic in the 21st century," Dr. Chan said from Geneva, where she is the WHO's director general. "The virus is now unstoppable." Chilling words, but no cause for panic.

Dr Anne Schuchat of the CDC says swine flu may worsen come autumn

US health officials estimate that at least one million Americans have been infected with swine flu since the H1N1 virus emerged nearly three months ago.

The number is far higher than cases actually reported to the authorities. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said many cases were mild, although 127 people had died. The CDC based its figures on surveys, rather than laboratory evidence, but the numbers suggest the death rate from swine flu is lower than thought. "We're saying that there have been at least a million cases of the new H1N1 virus so far this year in the United States," said Anne Schuchat of the CDC. "Reported cases are really just the tip of the iceberg."

CDC: Flu activity picks up pace, hits summer camps

Jun 26, 2009 (CIDRAP News) – An official from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said today that the nation just saw its largest weekly increase in cases since the beginning of the novel flu outbreak and that the virus has so far been detected at 34 summer camps in 16 states.

Anne Schuchat, MD, interim deputy director for the CDC's science and public health program, told reporters, "The key point is that this new infectious disease is not going away." Of the nearly 28,000 cases that have been confirmed in the United States, more than 6,000 were reported over the past week, according to the weekly update the CDC issued today. reference: http://www.cidrap.umn.edu/cidrap/content/influenza/swineflu/news/jun2609influenza-jw.html

Arizona: Camps Canceled by Flu Fears

Published: June 23, 2009

Thousands of children with muscular dystrophy will not be going to summer camp this year because of the swine flu. The Muscular Dystrophy Association, based in Tucson, said it was canceling the remainder of its summer camps because swine flu had been reported in them. The association said children with muscular dystrophy were particularly at risk from the flu, although none of the children recently sickened after attending camp have died. About 1,800 children have attended this year, but another 2,500 set to go in 35 states will be affected by the cancellations.

Health experts note that face masks and respirators should be used along with other precautions, such as frequent hand-washing, covering coughs, staying at home if ill and avoiding crowds.
In Mexico, one taxi cab driver said his business has dropped by 50 percent since the flu hit. “People don’t even want to leave their houses. It was bad enough with the economic situation, and now it’s even worse” (Bloomberg).

As cases of a previously unseen—and sometimes deadly—strain of swine flu cross the border from Mexico into the United States and beyond, fear of a worldwide pandemic sweeps the nations. Health officials, government leaders and average citizens wonder if this could be a repeat of the 1918-19 Spanish flu pandemic, which infected up to 500 million people and caused as many as 50 million deaths.

Get Your Mask at TruthAboutFlu.com - Use Special Discount Code "MASK" and save15%

Bi-Directional Mask (model NT-V2)

This respirator is the next generation of masks and was designed for “first responders”. Through nano technology, combining natural elements, this new fiber neutralizes "kills" the cell membranes of all bacteria and viruses on contact. NASA has tested one of the proprietary elements contained in the fiber against the equivalent of Anthrax, and within 15 minutes, all spoors’ membrane cells were neutralized.

This mask is very easy to breathe through because of its “duck” shape and angle of the 7 layers of material, therefore, it is perfect for sick victims. Because the 7-layer material is bi-directional, a practical application is that you can put a mask on your sick child (adult size mask), and the other children will not get their sickness. Another practical application is that you can wear the mask 24 hours in a row. Unlike other masks which need to be replaced 2 hours of use (because of bacteria causing the worst “morning breath” you have ever had), this mask neutralizes all bacteria, so it is like breathing fresh oxygen.

The Department of Home Land Security and the Mexican government has purchased this particular mask. This mask retails for $79.95 per box (20 masks), yet with the professional discount code "MASK", you can save 15% Off.

How long does a mask last? The NT-V2 mask lasts for over 24 hours, whereas the average life efficiency of an N95 mask is only 2 hours. Health professionals can wear the same mask for 8 hours a day for three days before needing to replace it with a new mask. How long can I store my mask, without usage, before I need to replace it? You are safe to store the NT-V2 mask for 3 years. The GPU mask can be stored for 5 years.
The H1N1 virus strain causing the current outbreaks is a new virus that has not been seen previously in either humans or animals- www.who.int
